The BONEHAM P168DJ is a headless press fit drill bushing used to guide drill bits and cutting tools with precision in jig and fixture applications. It has an inside diameter of 7/64 inches, a body outside diameter of 1/4 inch, and an overall length of 1/2 inch. The bushing is machined from steel and pressed directly into a jig plate or fixture body without the use of a locking collar or head flange. This headless design is common where a flush or low-profile installation is required. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and precision fabricators install these bushings to maintain accurate hole location across repeated drilling operations.
This drill bushing is suited for use in precision drilling jigs in metalworking, aerospace component manufacturing, and general production machining environments. The P industry code designates a specific standardized outside diameter and tolerance class that aligns with corresponding liner bushings and jig plate bores. It is installed permanently and is not designed to be removed and replaced during normal production use. Applications include repetitive hole drilling where consistent location and bit guidance are critical to part quality.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation press fit headless drill bushing for use in standard jig plates and fixtures bored to accept P-code bushings with a 1/4 inch body outside diameter.
Installation of press fit drill bushings should be performed by a qualified machinist or tool-and-die professional. The receiving bore in the jig plate must be machined to the correct interference fit tolerance before pressing the bushing in place. A press or arbor press is the appropriate tool for installation — driving the bushing with a hammer is not recommended as it can damage the bore or distort the bushing. Ensure the jig plate is secure and properly supported during pressing to prevent deformation.
