The BONEHAM P1616DT is a press fit headless drill bushing designed to guide drill bits and cutting tools with precision in jig and fixture applications. Built to Industry Code P and conforming to ANSI standards, this bushing features a 0.12-inch inside diameter, a 1/4-inch outside diameter, and a 1-inch overall length. The inside diameter tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0004 inches ensures close control over tool location. Constructed from hardened steel rated at 60 to 65 HRC, the P1616DT delivers the wear resistance required for repetitive drilling operations. It is a non-renewable, fixed installation component intended for permanent press fit mounting in a drill jig plate.
This bushing is suited for production and toolroom environments where consistent hole location is critical. The headless design keeps the bushing flush with the jig plate surface, making it appropriate for applications where a protruding head would interfere with the workpiece or fixture setup. The counterbored feature accommodates specific jig plate configurations. Machinists, tool and die makers, and fixture builders typically specify this bushing when building or refurbishing drill jigs for metalworking operations.
Designed as an ANSI-standard press fit headless drill bushing for use in drill jig plates and machining fixtures requiring a permanent, non-renewable bushing in the Industry Code P series.
Press fit bushings are installed by a machinist or toolmaker using a press or arbor press — never drive with a hammer, as this can damage the bore or distort the bushing. The receiving hole in the jig plate must be machined to the appropriate interference fit tolerance before installation. Once pressed in, this bushing is not designed for removal and reuse. Verify bore diameter and plate material compatibility before pressing to avoid cracking or galling.
