The BONEHAM H648NC is a Type H press fit headed drill bushing manufactured from hardened steel for precision hole location in jig and fixture applications. With an inside diameter of 0.75 inches and a body outside diameter of 1 inch, this bushing guides drill bits, reamers, and other cutting tools to maintain accurate and repeatable positioning across production runs. Hardness is rated at 60 to 65 HRC, providing long service life under continuous drilling cycles. The headed design seats flush against the jig plate face, resisting axial push-through during tool entry. Licensed machinists, toolmakers, and fixture builders are the primary installers of this component.
The H648NC is suited for use in drill jigs, fixture plates, and tooling assemblies in metal fabrication, aerospace, and general machining environments. It is a permanent, non-renewable installation — once pressed in, it is not designed for field removal and replacement. The 0.5-inch length under the head accommodates standard jig plate thicknesses common in production tooling. Applications include repetitive drilling operations where consistent hole location tolerance is critical to part quality.
Designed as an OEM-style press fit headed drill bushing conforming to ANSI Type H dimensional standards, suitable for use in drill jigs and fixture plates accepting a 1-inch body outside diameter bushing.
Press fit bushings are installed by toolmakers or machinists using an arbor press or hydraulic press — never drive with a hammer, as this risks damaging the bore tolerance or cracking the jig plate. The receiving hole in the jig plate must be machined to the appropriate interference fit per ANSI bushing press fit specifications. Verify bore cleanliness and alignment before pressing. Once installed, this bushing is not intended for removal and reuse.
