The BONEHAM H648MR is a Type H press fit headed drill bushing designed to guide cutting tools accurately in jig and fixture applications. Machined from steel and hardened to 60 to 65 HRC, it delivers consistent bore alignment during drilling, reaming, and similar operations. The bushing features an 11/16-inch (0.6875 inches) inside diameter with a tight tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0005 inches, a 1-inch body outside diameter, and a length under the head of 1/2 inch. The integral head seats flush against the jig plate, preventing axial movement under tool load. Installation is permanent — this bushing is not renewable once pressed into place.
The H648MR is suited for production drilling jigs, tooling fixtures, and machine shop setups where repeatable hole location is required. Its press fit installation makes it appropriate for applications where the bushing position will not need to be changed between runs. Typical users include toolmakers, machinists, and fixture builders working in job shops or manufacturing environments. The ANSI-compliant design allows it to fit into standard jig plate layouts that specify Type H headed press fit bushings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-install component for standard ANSI Type H headed press fit drill bushing applications in machining jigs and fixtures.
Press fit bushings are installed by a toolmaker or machinist using an arbor press or hydraulic press — never drive with a hammer directly on the bushing bore or head face. The receiving jig plate bore must be machined to the appropriate interference fit tolerance per ANSI standards before installation. Once pressed in, the bushing is permanent and cannot be removed without damaging the fixture plate. Verify inside diameter clearance with the intended cutting tool before pressing the bushing into place.
