The BONEHAM H6428NE is a Type H press fit headed drill bushing used to guide cutting tools during drilling, reaming, and boring operations. Machined from steel, this bushing presses directly into a jig plate without a locking mechanism, making it suited for fixed, high-volume drilling applications where the bushing stays in place for the life of the job. The inside diameter measures 49/64 inches with a tolerance of +0.0002 to +0.0006 inches, ensuring precise tool guidance. The body outside diameter is 1 inch, and the length under the head is 1-3/4 inches. The head outside diameter is 1-15/64 inches with a head height of 5/16 inches.
This bushing is designed for use in drill jig fixtures across machining, toolmaking, and fabrication environments. It is installed in jig plates where consistent hole location is required across multiple workpieces. The press fit design holds the bushing securely in the plate without requiring additional hardware. Typical users include machinists, tool and die makers, and production floor operators working with standard drill jig setups. This is not a renewable bushing and is intended as a permanent installation within the fixture.
Designed as a standard Type H press fit headed drill bushing for use in drill jig fixtures that accept a 1-inch body outside diameter bushing per industry standard tooling configurations.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tool and die maker using an arbor press to drive the bushing into a pre-machined jig plate bore. The receiving bore in the jig plate must be machined to the appropriate interference fit tolerance to ensure the bushing seats correctly and does not shift under load. Because this is a non-renewable press fit design, removal typically damages the bushing or the plate bore, so placement should be confirmed before pressing. Always verify the inside diameter matches the shank diameter of the intended drill or reamer before installation.
