The BONEHAM H486JQ is a Type H press fit headed drill bushing designed to guide drill bits and other cutting tools with precision in jig and fixture applications. Manufactured from steel with a hardness rating of 60 to 65 HRC, this bushing resists wear under repeated tooling cycles. The press fit installation method locks the bushing permanently into the jig plate without requiring a retaining screw or locking collar. The headed design provides a positive stop against the fixture surface, controlling depth and alignment. Machinists, toolmakers, and production fixture builders install this bushing type in metal fabrication and manufacturing environments where repeatable hole location accuracy is required.
This bushing suits production drilling, reaming, and boring operations in machine shop and manufacturing floor settings. It is pressed directly into a hardened or unhardened jig plate and is not intended for applications requiring bushing removal or replacement. The Type H industry code identifies this as a headed, non-renewable press fit bushing per ANSI standards. It is appropriate for use wherever a permanent, wear-resistant drill guide is needed in a fixed jig or fixture.
Designed as an ANSI-standard Type H press fit headed drill bushing for use in fixed jig plates and machining fixtures where a permanent, non-renewable bushing is specified.
This bushing is installed by a machinist or toolmaker using a press or arbor press to seat it flush or to shoulder in a properly sized bushing hole. Power down and de-energize all associated machinery before performing fixture modifications or bushing installation. The receiving hole should be machined to the tolerance required for an interference fit per ANSI jig bushing standards. Do not hammer the bushing in with a standard mallet, as this may damage the head or distort the bore.
