The BONEHAM H4816LK is a Type H press fit headed drill bushing designed to guide cutting tools with precision during drilling, reaming, and boring operations. Manufactured from hardened steel with a surface hardness of 60 to 65 HRC, this bushing resists wear across high-cycle production runs. It features a 0.5-inch inside diameter with a tight tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0005 inches, a 0.75-inch body outside diameter, and a 1-inch length under the head. The headed design seats flush into the jig plate, providing a positive stop that prevents the bushing from pushing through under cutting forces. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and fixture builders install this component in drill jig assemblies where repeatable hole location accuracy is required.
This bushing is suited for use in fixed drill jig applications where the bushing is pressed directly into the jig plate and is not intended to be removed and replaced during normal operation. Typical applications include production drilling fixtures in metal fabrication, aerospace tooling, and machine shop environments. The headed configuration is commonly used where the jig plate surface is accessible from the top and a flush or recessed bushing would not provide adequate retention. This is a non-renewable bushing, meaning it is installed permanently for the life of the jig or until the fixture is reworked.
Designed as an OEM-style press fit headed drill bushing for use in drill jig plates requiring a 0.75-inch body outside diameter bore and a 0.5-inch tool guide diameter, conforming to ANSI Type H bushing standards.
Installation is performed by machinists or tool-and-die technicians using an arbor press or hydraulic press to drive the bushing into a pre-bored jig plate hole sized to the appropriate interference fit. Ensure the receiving bore is clean and free of burrs before pressing the bushing in. Do not hammer directly on the head flange, as this may damage the seating surface or distort the bore. Because this is a non-renewable bushing, plan the jig plate bore location carefully before pressing, as removal typically damages the surrounding material.
