The BONEHAM H4028KG is a Type H press fit headed drill bushing machined from steel with a hardness rating of 60 to 65 HRC. It features a 13/32-inch inside diameter, a 5/8-inch body outside diameter, and a 1-3/4-inch length under the head. The head outside diameter measures 51/64 inch with a 7/32-inch head height. Press fit installation locks the bushing permanently into a jig plate without a locking mechanism. This bushing guides twist drills, reamers, and other cutting tools to maintain accurate hole location and alignment in production drilling applications. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and fixture builders install this type of component in drill jig assemblies.
Type H headed drill bushings are used in fixed drill jig applications where the bushing is not intended to be removed or replaced during normal service. The head bears against the jig plate surface, controlling insertion depth and preventing the bushing from being pushed through the plate under axial cutting loads. This bushing is suited for production runs on metal, plastic, and composite workpieces where consistent hole location is required across multiple parts. It is a non-renewable design, meaning it is pressed permanently into the jig and is not field-swappable without pressing out and replacing the bushing.
Designed as an OEM-style fixed bushing for Type H drill jig applications conforming to ANSI standards for headed press fit drill bushings.
A licensed machinist or toolmaker should press this bushing into a properly sized and finished jig plate bore using an arbor press or hydraulic press. The receiving bore must be machined to the tolerance required for a press fit to ensure the bushing seats without rotation or axial movement. Do not drive the bushing with a hammer directly on the head, as this can damage the bore alignment. Once pressed in, the bushing is considered permanent and should not be removed and reinstalled, as this may compromise fit and alignment.
