The BONEHAM H4028IR is a Type H press fit headed drill bushing used to guide cutting tools with precision during drilling, reaming, and boring operations. Manufactured from steel, this bushing installs by press fitting directly into a jig plate or fixture without the need for locking screws or collars. The inside diameter is 0.3230 inches (letter size P) with a tolerance of plus 0.0001 to plus 0.0005 inches, providing close-tolerance tool guidance. The body outside diameter is 5/8 inch, the head outside diameter is 51/64 inch, and the length under the head is 1-3/4 inches. This is a non-renewable bushing intended for permanent installation in production tooling fixtures.
Type H press fit headed drill bushings are used in metalworking and manufacturing environments where precise, repeatable hole location is required. They are commonly installed in drill jigs, fixture plates, and production tooling setups used in machine shops, fabrication facilities, and assembly operations. The headed design seats flush against the top face of the jig plate, preventing the bushing from being pushed through under drilling load. This part is sized for P-letter drill or equivalent tooling and suits applications requiring a permanent, non-rotating bushing guide.
Designed as a permanent press fit replacement or new-installation drill bushing for drill jigs and fixture plates requiring a Type H headed bushing with a 0.3230-inch inside diameter and 5/8-inch body outside diameter.
Press fit bushings are typically installed by a toolmaker or machinist using an arbor press or hydraulic press to seat the bushing flush and square in a reamed hole in the jig plate. The receiving hole in the fixture must be finish-reamed to the appropriate press fit tolerance before installation. Do not hammer the bushing in freehand, as uneven force can cock the bushing or damage the bore. Once installed, this non-renewable bushing is not intended to be removed and reused.
