The BONEHAM H3212IB is a Type H press fit headed drill bushing designed to guide cutting tools with precision in jig and fixture applications. Machined from steel, this bushing features a 0.29 inch inside diameter (Letter size L) and a 1/2 inch body outside diameter, with a length under head of 3/4 inch. The head outside diameter measures 39/64 inch and the head height is 7/32 inch. It is installed by pressing directly into a drill jig plate without the need for a liner bushing, making it a permanent, non-renewable installation. Machinists, toolmakers, and fixture builders use this bushing to maintain accurate hole location across production runs.
This bushing is suited for drill jig plates in metal fabrication, aerospace, automotive, and general manufacturing environments. It is appropriate for applications where the bushing does not require frequent replacement and where a fixed, permanent guide is acceptable. The press fit installation method locks the bushing securely in the jig body, preventing rotation or axial movement during repeated drilling cycles. It is typically used in moderate- to high-volume production fixtures where consistent hole positioning is critical.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation press fit headed drill bushing for use in standard drill jig plates accepting a 1/2 inch body outside diameter bushing with a Type H headed profile.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolmaker using an arbor press to seat the bushing flush into the prepared jig plate bore. The jig plate bore should be machined to the correct interference fit tolerance before pressing to avoid distorting the inside diameter. Do not drive the bushing with a hammer directly on the head face, as this can alter inside diameter geometry. Because this is a non-renewable bushing, replacing it requires drilling out the jig plate bore, so confirm fixture requirements before installation.
