The BONEHAM H2012EQ is a Type H press fit headed drill bushing designed to guide drill bits and cutting tools with precision in jig and fixture applications. Machined from steel, this bushing installs permanently into a drill jig plate via press fit — no locking collar or removal tool required. The inside diameter is 0.152 inches, corresponding to a Number 24 wire gauge drill size, with an inside diameter tolerance of plus 0.0001 to plus 0.0004 inches. The body outside diameter is 5/16 inches and the length under the head is 3/4 inches. This is a non-renewable bushing, meaning it is intended for fixed, long-run installations where the bushing does not need to be swapped out between operations.
Type H headed drill bushings are used in production and toolroom environments where consistent hole location is required across repeated drilling cycles. The head seats flush against the top face of the jig plate, providing a positive stop that controls the bushing depth and prevents rotation under cutting forces. Machinists, tool and die makers, and fixture builders install this bushing in steel and aluminum jig plates for drilling, reaming, and similar guided-tool operations. The headed style is preferred when back-migration of the bushing must be prevented without a secondary retention method.
Designed as an OEM-style fixed drill bushing for use in standard drill jig plates that accept a 5/16-inch press fit bore, conforming to Type H industry dimensions for headed press fit bushings.
Press fit bushings are installed by a toolmaker or machinist using an arbor press or hydraulic press — never drive with a hammer, as this can crack or misalign the bushing. The receiving bore in the jig plate should be finish-reamed to the appropriate interference fit tolerance before installation. Once pressed in, the bushing is considered permanent and is not designed for field removal or replacement. Verify bore alignment and cleanliness before pressing to ensure proper seating and concentricity.
