The BONEHAM H166EG is a Type H press fit headed drill bushing designed to guide cutting tools accurately during drilling, reaming, and boring operations. Manufactured from steel with a hardness rating of 60 to 65 HRC, this bushing resists wear under repeated tool passes. The 9/64 inch inside diameter and 1/4 inch body outside diameter are held to a tight inside diameter tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0004 inches, ensuring consistent hole location. The head design seats the bushing flush against the jig plate surface, locking it in place without additional hardware. Machinists and tooling specialists install this bushing directly into drill jigs and fixtures on the shop floor.
This bushing suits precision metalworking applications where repeatable hole placement is required across production runs. It is used in drill jig assemblies for light-to-medium machining operations in manufacturing, maintenance, and fabrication environments. The 3/8 inch length under head provides adequate support depth for standard jig plate thicknesses. The headed profile prevents the bushing from pulling through the jig plate during tool withdrawal. This is a non-renewable, permanently pressed-in component intended for fixed jig tooling setups.
Designed as an ANSI-standard Type H press fit headed drill bushing for use in drill jig plates requiring a 9/64 inch inside diameter and 1/4 inch body outside diameter pressed-in guide bushing.
Press fit bushings are installed by toolmakers or machinists using an arbor press or hydraulic press — never a hammer, which can crack the bushing or damage the jig plate bore. Verify the jig plate bore diameter matches the body outside diameter tolerance before pressing to avoid galling. Once installed, this bushing is not intended for removal or replacement. Inspect the seating surface and head contact area after installation to confirm full, even seating.
