The BONEHAM H104AY is a Type H press fit headed drill bushing designed to guide cutting tools with precision in jig and fixture applications. It features a 0.041 inch (wire gauge 59) inside diameter and a 5/32 inch body outside diameter, with a 1/4 inch length under the head. Constructed from steel hardened to 60 to 65 HRC, the H104AY delivers consistent tool guidance and wear resistance across repeated drilling cycles. The inside diameter is held to a tight tolerance of plus 0.0001 to plus 0.0004 inches, ensuring accurate hole location. Installation is by press fit, making it a permanent, non-renewable bushing suitable for high-volume production fixtures.
The H104AY is used in drill jig setups where a permanent press fit bushing is required. Typical applications include production machining environments where drill, reamer, or similar cutting tools must be guided repeatedly to a fixed location. The headed design provides a positive stop against the jig plate, controlling the depth the bushing is seated. It is suited for use in steel jig plates in both light and heavy manufacturing settings. Machinists and toolmakers are the primary installers in production and job shop environments.
Designed as a permanent press fit replacement for Type H headed drill bushings in standard ANSI-compliant drill jigs and tooling fixtures requiring a 5/32 inch body outside diameter and 0.041 inch inside diameter.
Press fit bushings are installed by a toolmaker or machinist using an arbor press or similar controlled-force equipment. The receiving jig plate bore must be machined to the appropriate interference fit tolerance per ANSI standards before installation. Once pressed in, the bushing is permanent and is not intended for removal or replacement. Do not drive the bushing in with impact tools, as this can damage the bore or distort the bushing.
