The BONEHAM AM00000479 is a press fit headless drill bushing manufactured to PM industry standards. It is designed to guide drill bits with precision during machining and fabrication operations, providing consistent hole location and extended tool life. Made from steel, this bushing installs without a head flange, allowing for flush or sub-flush seating in jig plates and fixture bodies. With an inside diameter of 2.8 inches, a body outside diameter of approximately 0.236 inches (6.00 mm), and an overall length of approximately 0.315 inches (8.00 mm), this bushing fits standard press fit applications where a renewable bushing is not required. Machinists, toolmakers, and fixture builders work with this component in production and prototype environments.
This bushing is suited for use in drill jigs, fixture plates, and tooling bodies where permanent press fit installation is acceptable. The headless design keeps the bushing profile below or flush with the jig plate surface, which is useful in close-tolerance layouts or multi-bushing configurations. It is a non-renewable bushing, meaning it is intended for permanent installation rather than field replacement. Typical applications include metal fabrication shops, machine shops, and manufacturing facilities where repeatable hole location is critical.
Designed as an OEM-style press fit headless drill bushing for use in standard jig plates and fixture bodies requiring PM-coded permanent bushings.
Installation is performed by machinists or toolmakers using an arbor press or hydraulic press to seat the bushing flush in a precision-reamed hole. The receiving bore must be machined to the tolerance specified for PM press fit bushings to ensure proper retention. Do not hammer the bushing in directly without a proper press arbor, as this can damage the bushing bore or the jig plate. Verify inside diameter clearance against the drill bit shank size before pressing the bushing into the fixture.
