The BONEHAM AM00000086 is a headless press fit drill bushing in industry code HM configuration, manufactured from hardened steel with a Rockwell hardness of 60 to 65 HRC. This bushing is designed to guide cutting tools with precision in jig and fixture applications. It features a 2.9 mm inside diameter with a close tolerance of +0.002/+0.008 mm, a 6.00 mm body outside diameter, and an overall length of 12.00 mm. The headless profile allows it to sit flush within the jig plate without a retaining flange, keeping the tool path unobstructed. Machinists, tool and die makers, and production drilling fixture technicians are the primary installers of this component.
This drill bushing is suited for use in precision drilling jigs and fixtures across light manufacturing, metalworking, and production machining environments. The HM industry code designation identifies it as a headless, press fit style bushing intended for permanent or semi-permanent installation in a jig plate where tool guidance repeatability is critical. It is appropriate for applications where the bushing must seat flush with the jig plate surface and where the bore must hold tight positional tolerances across repeated drilling cycles. Sold individually, making it practical for single-hole fixture builds or direct replacement of a worn bushing.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-build component for standard drilling jigs and fixtures requiring a headless, press fit drill bushing in the HM industry code designation with a 2.9 mm bore.
Press fit drill bushings are installed by qualified machinists or tool makers using an arbor press or hydraulic press — never struck in with a hammer, as impact installation risks cracking the bushing or distorting the bore. The jig plate bore must be machined to the correct interference fit diameter specified for the HM bushing OD before installation. Ensure the jig plate is fully deburred and cleaned before pressing the bushing in to achieve proper seating and alignment. Once installed, the bore should be inspected with a plug gauge to confirm the ID has not been distorted during press-in.
