The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 150A-13 is a spade drill insert designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding metal-cutting applications. Part of the T-A series, this insert measures 13 mm in diameter and features a 132-degree point angle that promotes accurate entry and efficient chip evacuation. Manufactured from T15 cobalt material and finished with a TiAlN PVD coating, the 150A-13 is built to withstand elevated cutting temperatures and abrasive workpiece materials. At 0.125 inches thick and weighing approximately 0.1 pounds, it fits Seat Size 0 T-A series holders. Licensed machinists and tooling technicians install this insert in production and job-shop drilling operations.
The 150A-13 is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, and titanium in both horizontal and vertical machining setups. The T-A spade drill system is commonly used in high-volume production environments where indexable tooling reduces downtime compared to solid-drill regrinding. The TiAlN coating extends tool life in dry and semi-dry cutting conditions, making this insert a practical choice for operations that run higher spindle speeds or reduced coolant flow.
Designed for use with T-A series spade drill holders accepting Seat Size 0 inserts. Suitable for workpiece materials classified as P (steel), M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), and S (super-alloys and titanium).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the insert. Use the correct torx or hex key specified for the T-A holder to secure the insert clamp screw — do not overtighten by feel alone; follow the holder manufacturer torque guidelines for Seat Size 0. Inspect the seat pocket for chips or debris before inserting, as contamination can cause insert tilt and premature failure.
