The ACCUPRO 12177472 is a solid carbide tapered end mill designed for precision machining applications requiring controlled taper profiles and tight tolerances. The tool features a 1.5 degrees taper angle per side, a 3/16 inch small end diameter, and a 1-1/4 inch length of cut. Constructed from micrograin solid carbide, it delivers consistent edge integrity and wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials. The square end geometry and center-cutting capability allow plunge entry and clean floor finishes. Three spiral flutes with a right-hand flute direction and a 30-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation during cutting operations. The 1/4 inch shank fits standard collet and tool holders common in CNC machining centers and manual mills.
This tapered end mill is suited for mold and die work, dovetail preparation, draft angle machining, and tapered slot cutting on CNC machining centers and knee mills. It is appropriate for use on aluminum, non-ferrous metals, plastics, and certain ferrous materials where an uncoated carbide tool is suitable. The uncoated finish makes it a practical choice for applications where coating adhesion or thermal sensitivity is a concern, and where regrinding is a priority. Machinists and toolroom operators working in job shops, production environments, and tooling departments will find this geometry appropriate for creating draft angles and tapered features in precision components.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use tapered end mill for CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with 1/4 inch collets or tool holders accepting a 1/4 inch shank diameter.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Seat the 1/4 inch shank fully into the collet or tool holder and torque the retention mechanism per the machine manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with an indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on small-diameter carbide tools.
