The ACCUPRO 12177457 is a solid carbide tapered end mill designed for precision milling of angled walls, die cavities, and draft-angle features in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It carries a 1-degree taper per side with a 3/16-inch small end diameter and a 3/4-inch length of cut, making it well suited for tight-tolerance work where consistent taper geometry is critical. The three-flute, right-hand spiral configuration with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation while maintaining surface finish quality. The uncoated micrograin carbide substrate provides rigidity and wear resistance without the dimensional variation introduced by coatings, which can matter when holding tight tolerances on tapered profiles. Machinists and toolroom operators working on molds, dies, and precision fixtures are the primary users.
This end mill is appropriate for use on vertical machining centers, CNC mills, and manual knee mills where tapered wall profiles or draft angles are required. The 1/4-inch shank fits standard ER and collet chuck toolholders commonly found in production and job-shop environments. At 2-1/2 inches overall length, it provides adequate reach for moderate-depth cavity work without sacrificing rigidity. Its centercutting capability allows direct plunge entry into the workpiece when the machining strategy requires it, reducing the need for pre-drilled pilot holes in certain applications.
Designed as a standard replacement or stock tapered end mill for CNC and manual milling applications requiring a 1/4-inch shank and 1-degree-per-side taper geometry.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is clean and free of chips before seating the shank. Use a calibrated torque wrench when tightening collet nuts to avoid over-clamping the shank. Verify runout at the cutting end with a dial indicator before beginning production cuts to confirm proper seating.
