The ACCUPRO 12176985 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. It features a 1 inch cutting diameter, a 1-3/4 inch length of cut, and a 4 inch overall length with a 1 inch shank diameter. The tool carries an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating for increased surface hardness and heat resistance at elevated cutting speeds. Four spiral flutes with a 40-degree helix angle and left-hand flute geometry promote efficient chip evacuation while the right-hand cut direction delivers consistent tool engagement. Micrograin carbide substrate supports tight tolerances and extended tool life in ferrous and hardened materials. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers typically select this end mill for finish and semi-finish profiling, slotting, and contouring cuts.
This end mill suits CNC machining centers and manual knee mills in job shop, toolroom, and production environments. Its centercutting capability allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole, making it practical for pocket milling and blind-cavity work. The AlTiN finish makes it well suited for dry or minimal-lubrication cutting in steels, stainless steels, and cast iron. The 40-degree helix angle reduces cutting forces and improves surface finish on harder workpiece materials common in aerospace, mold and die, and general metalworking applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-fitment end mill for CNC machining centers and milling machines accepting a 1 inch straight shank tool holder.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the control placed in an E-stop or locked-out state before inserting or removing the tool from its holder. Ensure the shank is fully seated and the collet or end mill holder is torqued per the tool holder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping before beginning any cutting cycle.
