The ACCUPRO 12176971 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in a wide range of metalworking applications. The 0.125-inch diameter tool features 4 spiral flutes with a 40-degree helix angle and an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating that improves heat resistance and tool life in ferrous and hardened materials. With a micrograin carbide substrate, this end mill holds tight tolerances and resists chipping under aggressive feed conditions. It is a single-end, centercutting design, meaning it can plunge directly into the workpiece as well as perform peripheral and slot milling. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals rely on this size and geometry for fine detail work, slotting, and profiling in tight spaces.
This end mill is suited for use in vertical machining centers, CNC mills, and manual milling machines where a 0.125-inch shank is accepted. The right-hand cut with left-hand flute configuration and 40-degree helix promote efficient chip evacuation and reduce heat buildup at the cutting edge. The 0.5-inch length of cut and 1.5-inch overall length make it appropriate for shallow-to-medium depth passes in steel, stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, and other machinable alloys. It is a common choice for mold and die work, aerospace components, and precision part production.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling selection for any CNC or manual milling machine equipped with a collet or chuck accepting a 0.125-inch round shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the end mill from the collet or tool holder. Seat the shank to the full recommended collet engagement depth and torque the collet nut according to the tool holder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or coating damage before each use, and verify runout with a dial indicator when tight tolerances are required.
