The SUPCO DFSTEAMER is a portable steam defroster designed to thaw frozen evaporator coils and ice machine coils quickly and without mechanical disassembly. Powered by 120 VAC, the unit generates steam at 40.6 psi and 275 degrees F, producing enough heat to clear ice buildup from evaporator coils in refrigeration systems, walk-in coolers, and commercial ice machines. The compact design — weighing 3.53 pounds and measuring 11.22 inches x 5.71 inches x 9.45 inches — makes it easy to carry to rooftop units, reach-in coolers, and tight equipment rooms. HVAC-R technicians and refrigeration service pros use this tool to eliminate slow manual defrost methods and reduce coil service time.
The DFSTEAMER is suited for service calls where a frozen evaporator coil is blocking airflow or preventing proper system operation. It is used in residential refrigerators, commercial reach-in and walk-in refrigeration units, and ice machine evaporator sections. The steam delivery method keeps plastic drain pans, drain lines, and coil components intact by avoiding the mechanical stress of picks or heat guns applied at close range. Fills with 8.5 fluid ounces of water per use, making it practical for field service without a dedicated water supply.
Designed for use on residential and commercial evaporator coils and ice machine coils where steam defrost service is appropriate. Verify coil and drain pan materials are rated for high-temperature steam exposure before use.
Disconnect power to the refrigeration or ice machine system before beginning coil service. Allow the DFSTEAMER to reach full operating pressure before directing steam at the coil surface. Direct the steam nozzle carefully around electrical components, wiring, and insulation to avoid heat damage. Service should be performed by a qualified HVAC-R technician familiar with refrigeration system service procedures.
