The SOUTHLAND 511-806BG is a 1-1/4 inch malleable iron galvanized plug used to seal threaded pipe openings in piping systems. The galvanized finish provides corrosion resistance for both indoor and outdoor installations. Manufactured to ANSI/ASTM A-197 material standards and dimensioned to ANSI/ASME B16.14 and B16.39, this plug meets widely recognized industry specifications. Threads conform to ANSI B1.20.1 for reliable, leak-free engagement with standard NPT female fittings. Each fitting is individually flag tagged and 100% inspected before leaving the factory. The Mueller logo is cast directly into the body. Plumbers and pipefitters install this plug during new construction, system modification, and maintenance shutoffs.
This plug is suited for use in residential and light commercial plumbing and gas piping applications where a threaded pipe end must be closed off. It is appropriate for use in water, gas, and air distribution systems that call for malleable iron fittings. The galvanized coating makes it a common choice in exposed or moderately corrosive environments. Installation by a licensed plumber or pipefitter is standard practice, particularly on gas lines where local code enforcement applies.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting compatible with standard 1-1/4 inch NPT threaded female pipe connections in malleable iron piping systems.
This fitting is installed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters using standard pipe wrenches and appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service medium. Shut off system pressure and depressurize the line before removing or installing any threaded fitting. On gas piping systems, follow all applicable IFGC and local code requirements, and verify for leaks after installation using an approved leak-detection method. Do not over-torque malleable iron fittings, as the material is strong but not as ductile as steel.
