The MAXITROL 12a04 is an automatic vent limiting device designed for use with Maxitrol gas pressure regulators. It replaces a standard vent orifice and restricts the amount of gas that can escape into a space in the event of a diaphragm failure, without releasing or relieving gas into the environment during normal operation. The 12a04 is a critical safety component for indoor gas regulator installations where controlling gas escapement is required by code or site conditions. Licensed gas technicians and plumbers install this device as part of a compliant indoor regulator assembly.

This vent limiting device is intended for indoor applications and enclosed spaces where limiting gas escapement from regulator diaphragm failure is essential. It is not suitable for outdoor use where it would be exposed to the elements. Compatible regulator models include the RV48, RV52, RV53, and RV61.
