The DAKOTA SOURCING 13114 is a sweat-connect copper reducing coupling designed to transition between two different tube sizes in a single fitting. It connects a 5/8-inch OD (1/2-inch ID) tube on one end to a 1/2-inch OD (3/8-inch ID) tube on the other end using a copper-to-copper (C x C) solder joint configuration. This type of fitting is a standard component in residential and light commercial plumbing and HVAC refrigerant line work where pipe diameter changes are required within a run. Installation is performed by licensed plumbers and HVAC technicians using standard sweat soldering techniques.
The 13114 reducing coupling is suited for use in potable water supply systems, hydronic heating loops, drain and vent transitions where copper is specified, and refrigerant line sets requiring a step-down in tube diameter. It is appropriate for both new construction rough-in and retrofit service work where an existing line must be reduced to match a smaller connection point at a fixture, valve, or equipment port.
Designed as an OEM-style sweat fitting for use in copper tube systems following ASTM B88 Type L or Type M tubing standards in residential and light commercial plumbing and HVAC applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or HVAC technician in accordance with applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements. Shut off and depressurize the water or refrigerant system fully before cutting into any line. Clean and flux both tube ends and fitting sockets thoroughly before applying heat to ensure a complete, void-free solder joint. Use only lead-free solder for potable water applications as required by code.
