Product Description

The ABB INSTALLATION PRODUCTS BH234R is a 2-gang old-work electrical box designed for retrofit and remodel installations where the wall surface is already finished. Built from rigid thermoset material, this box resists flexing and holds its shape under the stress of device installation and everyday use. With a 34 cubic inch capacity, it accommodates wiring for duplex receptacles, switches, and similar devices. Eight integrated cable clamps secure incoming conductors, and two mounting tabs anchor the box firmly to the drywall or plaster surface without requiring access to wall studs. Electricians and experienced remodel contractors are the primary installers.

This box is suited for residential and light commercial remodel work where new-construction boxes are not an option. It is installed directly through a cutout in an existing finished wall, making it appropriate for adding new outlets or switches in drywall, plaster, or similar wall assemblies. The 34 CUIN interior gives adequate room for single or multi-conductor cable runs typical of 15-amp and 20-amp branch circuits. Installation Notes

Installation is performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC requirements for box fill calculations and cable securing.
