The ABB INSTALLATION PRODUCTS E982DFN-CTN is a single-gang PVC field service split (FSS) box designed for 1/2 inch conduit applications. It supports multiple dead-end circuit terminations and provides additional mechanical support where standard boxes are insufficient. Built from PVC, this box is suited for stub-up installations where conduit rises vertically from a slab or floor assembly. Electricians and electrical contractors install this box in new construction and retrofit conduit runs where the conduit terminates without a through-feed. The split design allows field installation around existing conductors without pulling wire.
This box is used in residential and commercial electrical installations where conduit exits a concrete slab, poured floor, or similar substrate. It is appropriate for stub-up scenarios where the conduit ends inside the box and circuits require a secure, properly supported termination point. The single-gang format accommodates standard device plates and covers. It is particularly useful in locations where box movement or rotation is a concern and added anchoring is needed to maintain alignment before or after concrete pours or floor finishing.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and field-install solution for single-gang PVC conduit boxes used in 1/2 inch stub-up conduit applications in residential and commercial electrical systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize all circuits before working inside or around the box. The split design is intended to ease field installation, but conduit connections must be secured and the box properly anchored before pouring or finishing any surrounding substrate. Verify that the selected cover plate or device insert is rated and sized for the single-gang opening prior to final assembly.
