The YG-1 XB2C040 is a solid carbide ball nose milling insert designed for high-performance metal cutting in demanding machining environments. Built from micrograin carbide and finished with an H-coating applied via PVD process, this insert delivers consistent edge life when cutting steel, cast iron, and hard materials. It features a positive rake geometry with a honed cutting edge style for smooth chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces. The insert measures 0.500 inches in length, 0.625 inches in width, and 0.165 inches in thickness, with a corner radius of 0.3125 inches and a maximum depth of cut of 0.3125 inches. It is mounted via screw holding and is compatible with the ZBT, ZBS, and ZBC cutter series. Machinists and CNC operators in job shop and production environments install this insert as part of a toolholder assembly.
This insert is suited for milling applications in materials classified under ISO P (steel), ISO K (cast iron), and ISO H (hard materials). The ball nose profile makes it appropriate for profiling, contouring, and finishing passes on hardened workpieces. The right-hand cutting orientation and double-sided design extend usable tool life. It is sized for use in cutter bodies from the ZBT, ZBS, and ZBC series, making it a direct fit for shops already running YG-1 modular milling systems. It conforms to ANSI and ISO standards under code XB2C040.
Compatible with YG-1 ZBT, ZBS, and ZBC cutter series. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards under code XB2C040. Intended for use in right-hand screw-mount cutter bodies designed for this insert size and style.
This insert is installed by a machinist or toolroom technician into a compatible screw-mount milling cutter body. The machine spindle must be powered down and locked out before changing inserts. Use the correct torque driver or wrench specified by the cutter body manufacturer when securing the mounting screw. Inspect the pocket seat for debris or damage before seating the insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
