The YG-1 S01524 is a spade drill insert engineered for heavy-stock removal in drilling applications requiring a 3-inch diameter bore. Manufactured from M4 high speed steel and finished with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, this insert provides elevated wear resistance and extended tool life compared to uncoated alternatives. Designed for Series 5 T-A spade drill holder bodies, it seats securely into compatible tool holders and is held in position during drilling operations. Licensed machinists and toolroom technicians working in metalworking, fabrication, and production environments are the primary users of this insert.
This insert is suited for large-diameter drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals where a two-piece spade drill system is preferred over solid or indexable twist drills. The T-A series design is a widely adopted standard in industrial machining, making the S01524 appropriate for mill, lathe, or dedicated drill press applications requiring a 3.0000-inch drill diameter. It is sized at 0.4375 inches in thickness and is packaged as a single insert per unit.
Designed for use with Series 5 T-A series spade drill holders accepting a 3-inch diameter insert. Confirm holder series and seat size before installation.
Spade drill inserts are installed by qualified machinists following the tool holder manufacturer's seating and clamping procedures. Power down and de-energize the machine spindle completely before changing inserts. Use the correct wrench or key for the holder's clamping screw - do not use impact tools on insert fasteners. Inspect the holder pocket for chips, wear, or damage before seating the new insert.
