The YG-1 GM153040 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal cutting and machining environments. With a 5/8 inch diameter and a 1-1/4 inch length of cut, this single-end tool delivers consistent material removal in ferrous and non-ferrous applications. The 4-flute, right-hand cutting geometry with a 30-degree helix angle provides good chip evacuation and surface finish quality. The micrograin carbide construction gives the tool the rigidity and edge retention needed for demanding production runs. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working on CNC mills and manual knee mills are the primary users of this type of cutter.
This end mill is suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations in shop and production environments. The bright/uncoated finish makes it a versatile choice for general-purpose cutting where coating is not required or where the base carbide substrate is preferred for specific materials. The 5/8 inch shank diameter matches the cutter diameter, providing direct collet or end mill holder engagement without reduction sleeves. The 3-1/2 inch overall length fits standard toolholding setups on most vertical machining centers and manual mills.
Designed as a general-purpose solid carbide square end mill compatible with standard collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit toolholders accepting a 5/8 inch shank on CNC vertical machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Use a properly sized collet or end mill holder rated for the 5/8 inch shank diameter and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Confirm cutting direction is set to right-hand before initiating a cut, and do not use this tool for plunge cutting as it is non-centercutting.
