The YG-1 DTX418032 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in steel and other ferrous materials. It carries a TiAlN (titanium aluminum nitride) coating that extends tool life under heat and abrasion. The bit measures 1/2 inch in diameter with a 140-degree self-centering point that reduces walking and improves entry accuracy. Overall length is 6.5781 inches, and the two-flute spiral design clears chips efficiently through the full 4.0938-inch flute length. Coolant-through capability makes it suitable for deep-hole applications where heat management is critical. This bit is installed and operated by machinists, tool and die technicians, and maintenance professionals working on metal fabrication and industrial drilling operations.
The DTX418032 is built for general-purpose drilling in steel (workpiece material code P) and is well matched to CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines where a straight-cylindrical shank is required. The 8xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports deeper passes without bit deflection. The R-thinned web and tapered web configuration reduce thrust force at entry, which is especially useful when drilling plate steel or structural members. This bit fits standard 1/2-inch collets and chucks without adapters.
Designed as a general-purpose OEM-style replacement or production drill bit for applications requiring a 1/2-inch straight-cylindrical shank carbide jobber drill in the DH418 series. Compatible with standard 1/2-inch chucks and collet holders.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with cutting tool setup. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Verify chuck or collet runout is within acceptable tolerance before seating the shank, as excessive runout accelerates carbide wear and can cause premature breakage. When using the coolant-through feature, confirm coolant lines are clear and pressure is set per machine specifications before beginning the cut.
