The YG-1 DTX418020 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for precision drilling in steel and other ferrous materials. It measures 5/16 inch (0.3125 inch decimal) in diameter with a 140-degree self-centering point that reduces walking on entry and improves hole location accuracy. The TiAlN coating extends tool life by increasing heat and wear resistance at elevated cutting temperatures. At 4.6406 inches overall length with a 2.5156-inch flute length, this bit fits standard jobber-length applications handled by machinists, tool and die workers, and maintenance technicians working in metal fabrication and industrial settings.
This drill bit is built for drilling steel and similar primary workpiece materials in general-purpose machining environments. It is suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual drilling operations where consistent hole quality and tool longevity matter. The coolant-through design supports internal coolant delivery, making it compatible with coolant-fed spindles and toolholders. Its 8xD flute-to-diameter ratio and regular spiral type make it a practical choice for production drilling where chip evacuation and cutting stability are priorities.
Designed for use in standard jobber-length drill applications targeting steel as the primary workpiece material. Fits toolholders and chucks accepting a 5/16-inch straight-cylindrical shank with h6 diameter tolerance. Part of the YG-1 DH418 series.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians with the machine powered down and fully stopped. Ensure the chuck or collet is properly torqued to the toolholder manufacturer's specification before operation. When using the coolant-through feature, verify that coolant pressure and flow are within the spindle system's rated parameters before starting a cut. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and replace the bit if edge integrity is compromised.
