The YG-1 DTX408047 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in steel and other ferrous materials. Built to Series DH408 specifications, it features a 140-degree self-centering point and a right-hand regular spiral flute geometry that promotes efficient chip evacuation. The 4.70 mm cutting diameter pairs with a 6 mm straight cylindrical shank, making it compatible with standard chucks and tool holders. Coolant-through capability supports higher feed rates and extended tool life in production drilling environments. This drill is used by machinists, tool-and-die shops, and maintenance technicians working with precision metalworking equipment.
The DTX408047 is suited for drilling steel in both light manufacturing and general machining applications. Its 8xD flute-to-diameter ratio provides adequate chip clearance for moderate-depth holes. The h6 diameter tolerance on the drill body ensures consistent fit in precision tool holders. It is appropriate for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held pneumatic or electric drilling equipment where a solid carbide bit is specified over HSS for harder workpiece materials.
Designed as a general-purpose solid carbide jobber drill for use in standard 6 mm collets, Weldon-style holders, or equivalent straight-shank tool holders; primary workpiece material classification is P-code steel per ISO designation.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per applicable safety procedures. Ensure the chuck or collet is clean and free of debris before seating the straight shank to maintain concentricity. When using coolant-through capability, verify that the machine spindle is configured for through-spindle coolant delivery at the correct pressure for the workpiece material. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping or wear before each use, as solid carbide is brittle and can fracture if run in a damaged condition.
