The YG-1 DTX408043 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for precision hole-making in steel and similar ferrous materials. Built to Series DH408 standards, this 4.30 mm diameter drill features a 140-degree self-centering point that reduces walking on entry and improves positional accuracy without a center punch. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 6.00 mm in diameter, and the overall length is 74.00 mm (2.916 inches). Coolant-through capability makes it well suited for CNC machining centers and automated drilling operations where chip evacuation and heat management are critical. The right-hand spiral flute geometry is regular spiral with a web-thinned (R-Thinned) tip to lower thrust force in production environments.
This drill is designed for general-purpose drilling operations in steel workpieces, classified under Primary Workpiece Material Code P. The 8xD flute-to-diameter ratio provides a balanced combination of rigidity and chip clearance for deeper holes relative to diameter. Typical applications include component drilling in metalworking shops, job shops, and production facilities running manual or CNC drill presses, machining centers, and multi-spindle units. The h6 diameter tolerance on the drill body ensures consistent sizing and reliable fit in standard chucks and collets. With a flute length of 36.00 mm (1.418 inches), this bit handles drilling depths up to 1.418 inches in a single pass without pecking in most setups.
Designed as a general-purpose OEM-style jobber drill for steel machining applications in the 4.00 mm to 5.00 mm diameter range, compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 6.00 mm shank diameter.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with rotating cutting tool safety. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the bit from the chuck or collet. Verify coolant line connections and flow rate before engaging coolant-through operation to prevent dry running. Do not exceed the maximum recommended drilling depth of 1.418 inches per pass without confirming chip clearance and workpiece fixturing.
