The YG-1 34579TE is a 3-flute solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance material removal in steel and stainless steel applications. Built from micrograin carbide and coated with TiAlN, it handles elevated cutting temperatures and abrasive workpiece materials without sacrificing edge integrity. The 45-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. With a 5/16-inch mill diameter, a 13/16-inch length of cut, and a 2.5-inch overall length, this tool fits standard collet chucks and tool holders in that size range. It is a right-hand cut, right-hand flute, single-end tool with a straight-cylindrical shank.
This end mill is suited for milling operations on steel and stainless steel in both production and job-shop environments. Secondary workpiece materials include cast iron, super alloys, and titanium, making it a versatile choice for shops working across ISO material groups P, M, K, and S. Typical applications include slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling on CNC machining centers and manual mills. The regular-length geometry keeps it rigid in setups where extended reach is not required, reducing deflection and improving surface finish.
Designed for use in standard 5/16-inch collet chucks and end mill holders on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines. Primary workpiece materials are steel and stainless steel; secondary materials include cast iron, super alloys, and titanium.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, powered-down state before loading or changing tooling. Use a properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism per the tool holder manufacturer's specifications. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, particularly in finish or tight-tolerance operations.
