The XTRWELD WTLAN20125-3DP is a 2.0% lanthanated tungsten electrode designed for gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW). Sold in a 3-piece pack, each electrode measures 1/8 inch in diameter and is color-coded blue for quick identification. Tungsten carries the welding current to the arc and relies on its hardness and high-temperature resistance to maintain a stable, consistent arc. With a melting point of 3,410 degrees Celsius, tungsten outperforms all other metals in heat resistance, making it well suited for demanding TIG welding applications across steel and stainless steel on both AC and DC processes.
This electrode works well on AC or DC negative polarity. On DC, it maintains a sharp point for precise arc control on steel and stainless steel. On AC, it can be balled for use with sine wave machines or kept pointed for square wave power sources. The 2.0% lanthanated formulation delivers superior arc starting and AC performance compared to 1.5% lanthanated electrodes. It also shares the conductivity characteristics of 2% thoriated tungsten and can serve as a direct replacement for thoriated electrodes in many applications without requiring significant changes to existing welding programs.
Suitable for GTAW applications on steel and stainless steel using AC sine wave, AC square wave, and DC negative polarity power sources.
Tungsten electrodes are installed by licensed welders and trained TIG welding technicians. Always power down and disconnect the welding machine before changing or grinding the electrode. Grind the tungsten longitudinally to maintain a clean, consistent point for DC applications; balling is appropriate for AC sine wave machines. Follow all applicable AWS safety guidelines when handling and disposing of tungsten electrodes.
