The XTRWELD WTLAN20062-3DP is a 2.0% lanthanated tungsten electrode designed for gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), sold in a 3-piece pack. Measuring 1/16 inch in diameter and color-coded blue for easy identification, this electrode is engineered to carry welding current to the arc with consistent, stable performance. Tungsten is used in GTAW electrodes because of its exceptional hardness and high-temperature resistance — it holds the highest melting point of any metal at 3,410 degrees Celsius. The 2.0% lanthanum oxide content gives this electrode strong arc starting, low burnoff, and excellent arc reignition characteristics. Licensed welding professionals and certified weld technicians working on precision applications will find it well suited to their workflow.
This electrode performs on both AC and DC negative (DC-) polarity. With a pointed end it is ready for welding steel and stainless steel from DC or AC square wave power sources. It can also be balled for use with AC sine wave machines. The 2.0% lanthanated grade provides superior arc start and AC performance compared to 1.5% lanthanated electrodes, and in many cases it can substitute for 2% thoriated tungsten without requiring significant changes to existing welding programs or parameters. It is a practical choice for production shops, pipe welders, and fabricators working across a range of base metals and machine types.
Designed for use with GTAW equipment operating on AC or DC negative polarity, including square wave and sine wave power sources. Can serve as a functional replacement for 2% thoriated tungsten electrodes in many applications without major program changes.
Tungsten electrodes are installed and serviced by certified welders and weld technicians. Always power down and discharge the welding machine before changing or preparing electrodes. Grind the electrode on a dedicated tungsten grinder to avoid cross-contamination of the tungsten or the weld pool. Follow applicable AWS D1 and shop safety procedures when handling and preparing tungsten electrodes.
