The XTRWELD WTLAN15062-3DP is a 1.5% lanthanated tungsten electrode designed for gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW). Sold in a 3-piece pack, each electrode measures 1/16 inch in diameter with a gold color-code for easy identification. Lanthanated tungsten delivers reliable arc starting, low burnoff rate, and strong arc stability. It also offers reignition characteristics comparable to 2% thoriated electrodes, making it a practical swap in many existing welding programs without significant parameter changes. Certified welding technicians and professional welders working with steel, stainless steel, and other metals install and use these electrodes in shop and field applications.
The WTLAN15062-3DP performs on both AC and DC electrode negative (DCEN) polarity. When used on DC or AC from square wave power sources, the electrode holds a sharpened point well, which is the preferred geometry for welding steel and stainless steel. For AC sine wave machines, the electrode can be balled for use in that application. These electrodes are suited to light-gauge work at 1/16 inch diameter and fit standard GTAW torch collet bodies sized for that diameter.
Designed for use in GTAW torches accepting 1/16 inch collet bodies, suitable for welding steel and stainless steel on DC or AC power sources including square wave and sine wave machines.
Lanthanated tungsten electrodes are installed and changed by qualified welders or welding technicians. Before changing an electrode, shut down the welding power source and allow the torch to cool completely. Grind the electrode tip to the required geometry — pointed for DC and AC square wave applications, balled for AC sine wave — using a dedicated grinding wheel to avoid contamination. Follow applicable AWS safety guidelines and shop procedures when handling and disposing of tungsten electrodes.
