The WIRE 12solidthhn is a 12 AWG solid copper THHN building wire rated for 600 volts and 20 amps. The conductor is bare solid copper with a PVC insulation layer and a nylon jacket, which together form the standard THHN construction. The insulation is black, making it suitable for use as an ungrounded (hot) conductor in branch circuit wiring. Rated to 90 degrees C in dry applications, this wire meets the temperature and voltage demands of typical residential and light commercial electrical installations. It is sold on a 500 ft spool, sized for single-trade pulls or full-room rough-in work.
This wire is used by licensed electricians for branch circuit wiring in conduit systems — EMT, rigid metal, or PVC raceway — in residential, commercial, and light industrial settings. Common applications include panel feeders, outlet circuits, lighting circuits, and appliance branch circuits where NEC-compliant 12 AWG copper conductors are required. The 500 ft spool length suits single-trade rough-in jobs without requiring a full 1,000 ft reel.
Designed for use as a general-purpose THHN building wire in conduit-based wiring systems where 12 AWG solid copper conductors are specified.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and all applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit or panel before making any connections. THHN wire must be installed inside an approved conduit or raceway — it is not rated for direct burial or open-air exposed use without additional protection. Solid 12 AWG conductors are not recommended for applications requiring frequent flexing; use stranded wire in those cases.
