The WIDIA 6146621 is a single-end square end mill designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining environments. Built from solid carbide and finished with an AlTiN (WS15PE) coating, this tool delivers heat resistance and edge retention when cutting steel, stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, and hardened materials. It features a 1-1/4 inch diameter, 5-flute geometry, and a 38-degree right-hand helix that promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. The 5-inch length of cut and 8-inch overall length make it well suited for deep-pocket and extended-reach milling applications in production and job shop environments.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC milling machines and machining centers where rigid setups and high material removal rates are required. The 5-flute configuration increases feed rates relative to standard 4-flute designs, making it efficient on steel and stainless steel workpieces. The Weldon flat shank provides positive tool retention in standard end mill holders. It is center-cutting, allowing for direct plunge entry. This tool is appropriate for use by machinists and CNC operators working in aerospace, precision manufacturing, and general metalworking applications.
Designed for use in standard CNC milling machines and machining centers accepting a 1-1/4 inch shank diameter. Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, and hardened materials per ISO material codes P, M, S, and H.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator following the machine tool manufacturer guidelines. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before mounting or removing the tool. Seat the Weldon flat shank securely in a compatible end mill holder and tighten the set screw against the flat to prevent axial pullout. Confirm runout and tool projection before initiating a cut.
