The WIDIA 6146488 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding material applications. It features a 3/16-inch diameter, a 0.0300-inch corner radius, and five flutes arranged in a right-hand spiral with a close pitch and 38-degree helix angle. The WS15PE PVD coating provides heat and wear resistance suited to cutting steel, stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials. At 2 inches overall length with a 9/16-inch length of cut, this is a compact, rigid tool intended for precision slot milling, profiling, and finishing or roughing passes in tight geometries. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in aerospace, toolroom, and production environments are the primary users.
This end mill is built for the Series 5V0E platform and is classified for use with standard toolholders. Primary workpiece material is high-temperature alloy (material code S), with secondary suitability for steel, stainless steel, and hard materials (codes P, M, H). The single-end, centercutting design supports plunge entry as well as conventional and climb milling. The variable index geometry helps reduce harmonic chatter in difficult-to-machine alloys, making it well-suited for aerospace component work, die and mold finishing, and close-tolerance production runs.
Designed for use with standard straight-cylindrical toolholders accepting a 3/16-inch shank diameter. Suitable for CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped for solid carbide tooling. Part of the WIDIA Series 5V0E end mill family.
Installation requires a toolholder with a 3/16-inch bore; verify runout with a dial indicator before engaging the cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tooling. Power down and lock out the spindle before loading or unloading the tool. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and toolholder manufacturer torque specifications for set screws or collet nuts. Consult the WIDIA Series 5V0E cutting data recommendations for starting speeds and feeds appropriate to the workpiece material.
