The WIDIA 5895349 is a hexagon-shaped carbide milling insert in the M1200 series, designed for face and shoulder milling operations in demanding production environments. Built to ANSI and ISO standards with insert style designation HNGJ, this double-sided insert delivers 12 usable cutting edges per insert, maximizing cost-per-edge efficiency. The WP35CM grade features a multi-layer CVD coating system combining TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3, applied via MTCVD process for enhanced wear resistance and thermal stability. Installed by machinists and tool-and-die technicians, this insert seats via screw-hold clamping into compatible M1200-series cutter bodies.
This insert is suited for milling steel, cast iron, and stainless steel workpieces. The GD chip breaker geometry and chamfered, honed cutting edge style support consistent chip control across a range of cutting conditions. Primary application material codes are P (steel) and K (cast iron), with secondary suitability for M-code stainless steel. The neutral hand orientation allows flexible positioning in compatible tooling setups. Maximum depth of cut is 0.3383 inches, making this insert appropriate for moderate-to-aggressive stock removal passes in both roughing and semi-finishing operations.
Designed for use with M1200 series cutter bodies. ANSI catalog reference HNGJ535ANSNGD; ISO designation HNGJ0905ANSNGD. Verify cutter body pocket geometry and insert size code 0905 compatibility before installation.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle powered down and the machine placed in a locked-out state per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key as specified by the cutter body manufacturer when tightening the clamping screw. Inspect the pocket seat and clamping screw for wear or damage before seating a new insert. Handle carbide inserts with care to avoid chipping the cutting edges prior to use.
