The WIDIA 5577189 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. It features a 1/4 inch diameter with a 3/4 inch length of cut and a 2.5 inch overall length. The 5-flute, 45-degree right-hand helical geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. An AlTiN coating provides elevated heat resistance and extended tool life when cutting abrasive or hard materials. This end mill is installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals on CNC machining centers and manual mills requiring tight tolerances on ferrous and exotic alloys.
The 5577189 is engineered for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It is well suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in both roughing and finishing passes where material hardness and heat generation are primary concerns. The straight cylindrical shank with a 1/4 inch diameter provides secure tool holding in standard collet chucks and end mill holders. The Series 4C05 and 4C15 designation covers this geometry and coating family within the WIDIA product line.
Designed for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys and titanium, and hard materials. Compatible with any CNC or manual milling machine accepting a 1/4 inch straight cylindrical shank in a standard collet chuck or end mill holder. Part of the WIDIA Series 4C05 and 4C15 tooling family.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists following standard toolroom practices. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the end mill from the tool holder. Seat the shank to the full recommended insertion depth in the collet or holder and torque the retention nut per the tool holder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning the cut, as excessive runout will accelerate edge wear on carbide tooling.
