The WIDIA 5577116 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. Built to Series 5V0C specifications, it features a 1/2-inch diameter cutting edge, a 1-1/4-inch length of cut, and a five-flute helical configuration with a 38-degree helix angle. The AlTiN-based WP15PE coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life when cutting at elevated temperatures. With a 3-inch overall length and a 1/2-inch straight-cylindrical shank, this end mill mounts directly into standard collet chucks and milling tool holders. It is intended for use by machinists and CNC operators working in production and job-shop environments.
This end mill is rated for cutting steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, K, S, and H. High-temperature alloys are listed as a secondary workpiece material. The single-end, center-cutting, right-hand cutting and right-hand flute design suits conventional and climb milling in vertical and horizontal machining centers. The regular-length body and fixed helix geometry make it a straightforward drop-in for general-purpose slotting, profiling, and pocketing operations where tool rigidity and chip evacuation are critical.
Rated for primary use in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials (ISO codes P, M, K, S, H), with secondary suitability for high-temperature alloys. Part of the WIDIA Series 5V0C end mill family.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before inserting or removing the tool. Seat the shank fully and evenly in the collet or tool holder and torque the nut to the tool holder specification before running. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for chips or wear before each use; a damaged AlTiN coating significantly reduces tool life in titanium and superalloy cuts.
