The WIDIA 5576518 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metal-cutting applications. With a 0.5 inch mill diameter, 4 helical flutes, and a 38-degree helix angle, this single-end tool delivers efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting action. The AlTiN (WP15PE) coating provides thermal resistance and hardness retention at elevated cutting temperatures, extending tool life in abrasive and hard materials. It is intended for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals operating CNC milling centers and manual knee mills where consistent finish and dimensional accuracy are required.
This end mill is suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hardened materials. The Weldon flat shank provides positive drive and minimizes pullout in high-feed applications. With a 1 inch length of cut, 1 inch neck length, and 3 inch overall length, this tool fits standard tool holders designed for 1/2 inch shank diameters. It is a right-hand cut, right-hand flute configuration with no chipbreaker and no coolant-through capability, making it straightforward to apply in conventional dry or minimal-quantity lubrication setups.
Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hardened materials (ISO material codes P, M, K, S, H). Designed for use with 1/2 inch Weldon-style tool holders on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines.
This end mill is installed by machinists using a compatible 1/2 inch Weldon flat tool holder; ensure the set screw engages the flat fully before tightening to prevent axial pullout. Verify spindle speed and feed rate against the material and coating manufacturer guidelines before cutting. Inspect the tool holder bore and collet for runout before securing the tool, as excessive runout reduces tool life and surface finish quality. Follow machine manufacturer lockout and tag-out procedures before loading or changing tooling.
