The WIDIA 5545064 is a solid carbide milling insert in the VSM11 series, designed for high-performance material removal in demanding milling applications. It carries the ISO designation XDPT110408PDSRMH and ANSI code XDPT1102SRMH. The insert uses a PVD-applied dual coating of TiAlN and AlCrN under the WP40PM grade, providing heat resistance and edge toughness for aggressive cuts. The parallelogram shape (XDPT style) combined with a positive rake angle and chamfered, honed cutting edges reduces cutting forces and promotes a clean shear. Two cutting edges are available per insert, and the MH chip breaker geometry helps control chip flow across a range of feed rates and depths of cut.
This insert is suited for milling steel and stainless steel as its primary workpiece materials, with secondary capability in superalloys and titanium. It fits the VSM11 cutter series and is held in place by a screw-lock method. The right-hand configuration, 15-degree relief angle, and positive rake make it a practical choice for productive face and shoulder milling in both production shop and maintenance environments. It is installed by machinists and tooling technicians working on CNC milling centers and manual knee mills where consistent insert geometry is required.
Designed for use with the VSM11 cutter series. Compatible cutter series designation is VSM11 as specified by the manufacturer. Verify holder pocket specifications against ISO code XDPT110408PDSRMH and ANSI code XDPT1102SRMH before installation.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque; do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide body. Inspect the pocket seat for chips or debris before seating the insert to ensure full contact and accurate edge positioning.
