The WIDIA 5545063 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ISO designation XDPT110408PDSRMM and ANSI designation XDPT1102SRMM. It is part of the VSM11 series and is designed for use in screw-held milling cutter bodies. The insert features a parallelogram shape with a positive rake geometry, a 15-degree relief angle, and chamfered plus honed cutting edges. Applied via PVD process, the dual-layer TiAlN and AlCrN coating provides wear resistance and thermal stability during interrupted and continuous milling cuts. Two cutting edges are available per insert, and right-hand orientation is standard. Licensed HVAC techs, plumbers, and metalworking machinists working in production or maintenance milling operations will find this insert suited for demanding material removal.
This insert is intended for milling steel, stainless steel, and, as a secondary application, superalloys and titanium. It fits cutter bodies in the VSM11 series and is applicable to both roughing and finishing passes where a positive-rake, screw-held insert system is specified. The MM chip breaker geometry is optimized for the primary workpiece materials listed. Right-hand cutting orientation must be confirmed against cutter body pocket specifications before installation.
Compatible with VSM11 series milling cutter bodies. Insert style XDPT, insert size code 1102. Verify pocket orientation and screw torque specifications in the cutter body documentation before installing.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician following the cutter body manufacturer's torque and seating specifications. Ensure the cutter body is fully removed from the spindle and secured before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key as specified by the cutter body documentation - do not substitute tools, as over-torquing can crack the insert or damage the pocket seat. Inspect the pocket seat and clamping screw threads for wear or contamination before seating a new insert.
