The WIDIA 5331093 is a carbide grooving insert in the WMT series, designed for precision grooving and turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a 0.1252-inch cutting width, a maximum depth of cut of 1.0 inch, and a neutral hand orientation suited for straight grooving applications. The insert is manufactured in grade WU25PT with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, delivering thermal stability and wear resistance in demanding cutting conditions. With a positive rake angle of 5 degrees and a PH chip breaker geometry, it is built to manage chip flow efficiently in high-performance turning operations.
This insert is primarily intended for machining superalloys and titanium, making it a strong choice for aerospace, medical, and energy-sector component work where tight tolerances and difficult materials are the norm. It also supports secondary applications in steel, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, and cast iron. The neutral hand design allows use in standard grooving toolholders compatible with WMT-style clamped inserts. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working with ISO or ANSI WMT-style tooling systems will find this insert ready to drop into existing setups. It is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 pieces.
Designed for use in WMT-series clamped grooving toolholders. ANSI and ISO code WMTS125I3P08PH. Suitable for grooving superalloys, titanium, steel, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, and cast iron workpieces.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists following the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque specifications and insert seating procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamp for wear or debris before seating the new insert. Follow the machine manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and grade combination.
