The WIDIA 4169582 is a double-ended carbide cutoff insert in the WMTC series, engineered for parting and grooving operations in demanding machining environments. It features a 1/8 inch (0.1250 inch) cutting width, a neutral lead angle, and a 5-degree relief angle, making it suitable for stable, consistent chip removal during cut-off applications. The insert carries a WU25PT grade with an AlTiN PVD coating, which provides thermal resistance and extended tool life. It is installed by machinists and toolroom professionals on lathes and turning centers equipped with clamp-style WMTC toolholders.
This insert is primarily intended for machining super-alloys and titanium (material code S), with secondary suitability for non-ferrous metals, cast iron, stainless steel, and steel (material codes N, K, M, P). The CM chipbreaker geometry supports controlled chip formation across this range of workpiece materials. With a maximum depth of cut of 1.0000 inch and a cutting height of 0.1850 inch, it fits standard WMTC seat size 3 toolholders used in both production and job-shop turning applications.
Designed for use in clamp-style WMTC series toolholders with an insert seat size of 3. ANSI and ISO designation for this insert is WMTC125N00CM17.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque and seating specifications. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing the insert. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for debris or wear before installing a new insert. Handle carbide inserts carefully to avoid chipping the cutting edge prior to use.
