Product Description

The WIDIA 4140350 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-productivity drilling in demanding shop and machining environments. Built from solid carbide and coated with TiAlN, it delivers heat resistance and wear performance beyond standard high-speed steel tooling. The 15/64 inch (0.2344 inch decimal) diameter bit features a 140-degree web-thinned point that reduces thrust and improves centering on entry. At 2.6 inches overall length, the screw machine format provides rigidity in short-hole applications. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and thermal management during extended production runs. This bit is sold individually and suited for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals.

The 4140350 is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys. Its regular spiral flute geometry and 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio make it a general-purpose production tool appropriate for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machine applications where stub-length rigidity is required. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet holders sized for 0.2362 inch shank diameter.

Key Features

  • Solid carbide construction for rigidity and wear resistance in ferrous and non-ferrous materials
  • TiAlN coating increases surface hardness and thermal resistance at elevated cutting speeds
  • 140-degree web-thinned point reduces entry thrust and improves drill walking resistance
  • Coolant-through design supports chip evacuation and extended tool life in production drilling
  • Screw machine (stub) length at 2.6 inches OAL minimizes deflection in short-hole work
  • Right-hand cut, regular spiral flute geometry suitable for general-purpose production use

Compatibility

Designed as an OEM-style replacement and production tooling option for standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting a straight cylindrical shank of 0.2362 inch diameter, consistent with screw machine length drill bit applications across CNC and manual machining setups.

Installation Notes

Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine powered down and locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Ensure the shank is fully seated and the chuck or collet is torqued to the tool holder manufacturer's specification before initiating a cut. Coolant lines should be confirmed clear and flowing before use when operating in coolant-through mode. Consult applicable OSHA machine guarding and ANSI B11 standards for safe drilling operation.
