The WIDIA 3849077 is a replaceable carbide drill tip designed for use with TDM1-series modular drilling systems. It carries a 13.00 mm cutting diameter and a 140-degree drill point angle, making it suited for standard through-hole and inclined-exit drilling operations. The tip is manufactured from submicron solid carbide and finished with a dual PVD coating of TiAlN and TiN for improved wear resistance and thermal stability. Coolant-through capability is integrated into the design to support chip evacuation and heat management at the cutting zone. This tip is installed by machinists and tool-room technicians working with compatible TDM1 modular drill bodies.
This drill tip is intended for drilling applications in steel and cast iron workpieces, covering ISO material groups P and K. The helical, regular-spiral flute geometry with a 2-flute, 2-margin configuration promotes stable cutting and consistent hole quality. The W19 insert seat size matches the corresponding TDM1 drill body holder. Typical use cases include production drilling where tip replacement is preferred over full drill replacement to reduce tooling cost and downtime. The UPM insert geometry and standard point type support general-purpose drilling requirements in these material categories.
Designed for use with TDM1-series modular drill bodies requiring a W19 insert seat. Compatible with primary workpiece materials in ISO groups P (steel) and K (cast iron) as specified in the product attributes.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Before tip replacement, ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out per applicable machine-safety procedures. Use the manufacturer-recommended torque wrench and clamp hardware specified for the TDM1 seat - do not substitute fasteners. Inspect the insert seat for chips or contamination before seating the new tip to ensure proper contact and runout performance.
